The essential specialty requirements of a qualified high school teacher wasclarified by “the middle school teachers’ professional standards”(for trialimplementation) published by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic ofChina. A qualified geography teacher needs to do ethics first, student-oriented, abilityfor heavy and lifelong learning. A teacher needs to improve themselves completelyfrom morality, knowledge and ability to enhance their professional level.It is a trend for geography teachers to choose the ways of specialization andparticipate in the geographic professional training in view of the professional abilityof high school geography teacher varies greatly just under the background of the newcurriculum reform. In this paper, the effect of “national training plan” in Hebeiprovince on the middle school geography teachers’ specialization was discussed. InChina, the government regarded enhancing the level of teacher professionalization asan important way to enhance the overall quality of teachers since the1990s,especially since the new curriculum reform. Based on the collection of a large numberof domestic and foreign information on the channels of teachers’ professionaldevelopment, this paper analyzes the effects of teacher training on geographyteachers’ specialization.The main body of the paper consists of six chapters: Chapter one, introduction;Chapter two, the analysis of standard and connotation of middleschool geography teachers’ professional development; Chapter three, the analysis ofcurrent situation of middle school geography teacher professionalization; Chapter four,the approach of domestic and foreign geography teachers’ professional development;Chapter five, the impacts of teacher training on geography teachers’ professionaldevelopment; Chapter six, the implications of teacher training for geography teachers’professional development. In conclusion, this paper can provides references and aidsfor geography teachers’ professional development and teacher training project..
