New media have been affecting every aspect of daily life due to the proliferation of internet. With the support of new media techniques, youth subcultures experience a change from deconstruction to reconstruction in the course of participating in sub-cultural activities. Therefore social network sites, which are the main internet applications for teenagers in China, have put a significant impact on the ways of which youth sub-cultural groups participate in sub-cultural lifestyle.The rise of social network sites has changed the single mode of traditional mass media and their communicative characteristics have produced a successive influence on the youth subculture.By the profound description of several representative youth subculture groups selected in RenRen and DonBan, and based on the Birmingham School of Cultural Studies on the youth subculture, I try to analyze the reconstruction which the social network sites work on the youth subculture and attempt to explore how the social network sites, as a behalf of new media, deconstruct and reconstruct the lifestyle of participating in the subculture From the views of youth subculture groups identity, youth sub-cultural text, new media in the context of the youth subculture, youth subculture style as well as the youth subculture destiny and so on.However, there are not many studies on the youth subculture in communication from a view of social network sites. Additionally, the article will also summarize the relation between the theory of youth subculture and social network sites.Article adopt case study and participant observation as the main research methods, targeting youth sub-cultural groups in DouBan and RenRen as the analysis objects and some representative youth sub-cultural groups as the objects of observation. There are four chapters in the article. The first chapter, which is the preface, includes the research value of the topic, research methods and research background etc. The second chapter is descriptions of some representative youth sub-cultural groups selected in DouBan and RenRen, the characteristics of these groups and the ways of how they participate in the sub-cultural activities. The third chapter, as a key part of this article, is an analysis of how the social network sites deconstruct and reconstruct the youth sub-cultural lifestyle.First section mainly describes the process of how the youth sub-cultural groups deconstruct and reconstruct in the social network sites. In the second section, the reconstruction of social network sites for the youth subculture and the impact on the’style’of youth sub-cultural groups have been discussed. Last section is a description of changes under the context of new media as well as the reconstruction of youth subculture.The fourth chapter is the conclusion and thinking part. Through the account of living statue of youth sub-cultural groups between incorporation of sub-culture and anti-incorporate in the social network sites, as well as an outlook of the sub-cultural lifestyle, this chapter has discussed where the youth subculture to go in the context of mainstream culture.
