Research Of Interactional Relationship Between Civil Social Work Organizations And The Public

Social work has gradually been accepted by our society as a professional service to assist for people, due to its significant role in dealing with the social conflicts and keeping the social harmony. As an important field of social work service, the private nonprofit organization and social work are interdependent. Without the organizations’support, social work will not function properly. Private nonprofit organizations face unprecedented challenges these years. The challenges are seen as follows:civil social work organizations are established and disappear fast; many social workers drop out; there exist gender imbalance of social workers; dependence on government projects is very common. This phenomenon shows that the private nonprofit organizations have not gained enough support of social resources and have difficulty using the limited resources effectively. According to resource dependence theory, any organization has to interact with the outside world in order to obtain the resources that can maintain their survival and development. For this endeavor civil social work organizations must engage with the public. With various interactions with the public, private nonprofit organizations are able to use the resource effectively, and thus work out solutions to the problems they face. This paper takes J Association of Social Work as an example of those which have made great achievement among the private nonprofit organizations in Shandong. We start with the four kinds of resources (social worker, government, service object, media) that the private nonprofit organizations can achieve. In discussing the organizations’ interaction with the public, we assess true demand of such organizations as well as the relationship between organizations and the public, as a result of which we are able to provide advices for the organizations to obtain broad space for development.
