Textbooks are materials which are written in a scientific and standardized formataccording to the corresponding curriculum criterions and act as the primary references ofteaching and learning.Different textbooks adopted by different areas vary considerably, but it’s wellrecognized that suitable physical teaching materials for junior middle school should choosea reasonable presentation, a compendious tone and, above all, be serviceable for teachingand learning. Actually, the contents of textbook should conform to the designed objectivesand requirements of the curriculum criterions, the knowledge structure being in line withcertain system of discipline, and the degree of difficulty being appropriate as well.Based on the background of curriculum reform in Jiangsu and Shanghai and someanalysis aimed at teachers and students of the two palaces, we firstly did a comparison ofspecific standards employed in Jiangsu and Shanghai’s physical curriculum reform.Considering that textbooks of two places differ quite a lot in their contents and knowledgepresentation, we carried out a careful comparative study. Furthermore, we put forwardsome comments and several constructive proposals on the revision of textbooks.In some way, this paper may provide some reference value for the revision and usageof physical textbook for junior middle school.
