HPS Teaching Research And Teaching Design Reflecting Chemistry Methodology

As recognized by science education workers throughout the world nowadays, HPS education is the education idea and teaching mode which can be applied to promote students’understanding of nature of science and to improve students’scientific literacy. Science methodology is an important content of HPS education. In the teaching and learning practice applying it, educations of history of chemistry, chemical methodology and chemical sociology are not carried out separately, instead, through the history of chemical science development, the methodology of chemistry and the relations between the development of chemical science and related social, cultural, and the development of the related disciplines is reflected, the nature and the law of how science happens and develops is also understood thoroughly.In recent years, to enhance the students’scientific literacy and the quality education is one of the most important parts for education curriculum reform in our country. Many experts and scholars have put forward constructive suggestions on strengthening the chemistry history education; in practice it also has won the acceptance of first-line teachers. But the scientific method education is slightly weak. On the basis of summarizing the related research, this study suggests that, to improve the methodology education, we should broaden the teaching field of vision, reflect the concept of composition between disciplines; strengthen scientific subject teaching, reflect the scientific nature of the learning process, demonstrate scientific development process and reflect the concept of HPS in the education.Based on the teaching practice of the front line teachers, and by listening to lectures, and learning, I carried out the teaching design on "simple classification and its application " and "the general steps and method of organic compounds" using the HPS mode to explore the strategies and ways to reflect education methodology.
