The overall goal of new chemical curriculum of senior high school is to cultivate students’ science literacy. And "process and method " constitutes an important aspect of science literacy’ s goal system. Scientific method is a kind of powerful weapon to make scientific discoveries. Of the scientific methods, mathematical method is an essential tool to make quantitative study of chemistry because of its characteristic. However, mathematics is neglected in chemistry teaching. Questionnaire indicates that students have a dim consciousness of mathematical method and lack of the ability to solve problems using mathematical method, meanwhile, being lacking of comprehension of mathematical model, chemistry teachers often lay emphasis on the application of mathematical methods in chemical calculation, ignoring the methodological significance of mathematical methods in some aspects. This research based on mathematical methods to survey the foundation of methodology hiding behind the design of chemistry instruction. Under the guidance of the modern instructional theory, the following instructional strategies can be adopted to realize the instruction of mathematical methods in the design of chemistry instruction:By refining the methodology thought from the teaching material and the history of chemistry; integrating the mathematical methods into the instruction of chemistry knowledge, and sorting through systematacially at the appropriate stage; Carrying out inquiry teaching to promote the students with mathematical method; making full use of exercise teaching to train students’ scientific mathematical thinking;developing mathematical methods’ education through the science and technology as the medium. And then, by the analysis of some typical cases about instructional design, we can evaluate its way to realize a design in the process-method dimension. This study can expected to offer some reference for the chemistry instruction under the background of new chemical curriculum and the design about mathematical method.
