The vigorous development of the preschool education expands the amount of demand of kindergarten principal, and it improves the quality of the principal requirements. In recent years, competency model has been widely applied to the field of preschool education. Preschool teachers’competency model is developed maturely, but the research about kindergarten principal competency model is still in the germination. Malignant events happened in kindergarten frequently that doing research on kindergarten principal competency is very necessary.Public kindergarten principal is the object in this study. In order to consolidate and promote the research field about public principal, its competency model is analyzed, some practical suggestions have been put forward. It hopes that will provide some experience for follow study.There are five chapters in this study. The first chapter describes the research question, the reseach situation, the research significance and the design of this study.The second chapter is exploring the intrinsic value orientation of principal. Selecting6representative principal for behavioral event interview and the interview results are coded by "Kindergarten Principal Competency Dictionary". Selecting6experienced experts to review the coded results. Thought the comments of experts, the initial public kindergarten principal competency model has been presented, including Interpersonal Communication (IU), Organizational Awareness (OA), Training (DEV), Analytical Thinking (AT), Conceptual Thinking (CT), Professional Knowledge (EXP) and Personality Charm7competences.The third chapter reveals different competences’different development trend.44questionnaires have been analyzed which mainly includes "competence importance nomination" and "competence behavior score". Questionnaire information has been statistical analyzed in SPSS20.0. Conceptual Thinking, Professional Knowledge, Interpersonal Communication, Team Leadership, Planning Ability, Analytical Thinking, Personality Charm, Institution Building, Training and Team cooperation9competences are being selected frequently in "competence importance nomination". Meanwhile, with principal work life growth, it founded that different competence showing like balanced development, rapid development, weakening development and "U" type development trend.Based on the above research, the forth chapter proposes the public kindergarten principal competency model, which included Conceptual Thinking, Organization Leadership, Problem Analysis and Solving, Professional Knowledge, Interpersonal Communication, Training, Team work and Personality Charm8competences.Finally, based on the competency model, some suggestions have been given to education department, kindergarten principal, preschool teacher, training institutions, parents and community.At last, the fifth chapter relects on the shortcomings of this study and provides suggestions for further research.
