The principal is the core leader of the kindergarten and plays a vital role in leading the development of the kindergarten and teachers.The promulgation of "Professional Standards for Kindergarten Principals" put forward requirements for the professional qualities of the principals.The prosperity and development of preschool education has further expanded the demand for high-quality principals.Regardless of policies and regulations,or starting from actual needs,the improvement of the director's professional quality is particularly urgent.At present,the theory of competence is widely used in the field of education.The inquiry about principals and competence is driven by both theory and practice,and a variety of principal competence models have been constructed.However,as the head teacher of the pro fessional development of preschool teachers,the research on competence is still in a state of isolation.Therefore,this study combines the principals of public kindergartens with the theory of competence,excavates discriminative competence characteristics that are different between ordinary and excellent performers,and builds a competency model for the principals.And provide a reference for improving the director's competence.The full text consists of five chapters.The first chapter,based on the literature review,expounds the reason for choosing the topic,the significance of the research,the theoretical basis and the research design.The second chapter constructs the competency model of the principal.In this study,the heads of public kindergartens in Wuhan were used as the research object,which were divided into excellent performance groups and ordinary performance groups,and behavioral event interviews were conducted.Through coding analysis and statistical processing of the collected behavioral events,the results show that there are significant differences in the 10competence characteristics of the follo wing five major ethnic groups:the directors of the general performance group and the directors of the high performance group:achievement orientation,innovation awareness,interpersonal communication,Develop others,team leaders,expertise,analytical thinking,self-confidence,flexibility,and organizational commitment.Based on the five types of ethnic groups to which 10competence characteristics belong,a "barrel" model for the competence of the director is preliminarily constructed.The third chapter discusses the personal characteristics of outstanding principals based on their competence.Due to the special characteristics of personal traits,they are discussed separately in this chapter.Through interviews with outstanding directors,it was found that outstanding directors should possess five personal characteristics of competence:caring for children,excellent moral qualities,unique ideas of running a garden the ability to employ people,and the personality of the sun.The fourth chapter summarizes the above research to construct a competency model for public kindergarten principals,and analyzes the competence characteristics in the model from three aspects:connotation,behavior level,and case description.Finally,combined with the competency model,it puts forward application suggestions on the improvement of the kindergarten principal's competence,the selection of the kindergarten principal's assessment and the teacher's career planning.The fifth chapter reviews the whole research process and conducts research reflection.
