Internet Development Promotes Constructing Civil Society

Starting from the contradictions between country and society, Internet as amedium, this paper researches on the influences of Internet development on theconstruction of civil society. As the main logic, the Netizen-Citizen-Civil Society runsthrough the paper. This paper combines with concrete reality of the construction ofsocialism with Chinese characteristics to study the practice of Internet developmentand the construction of civil society. Applying multi-disciplinary backgroundknowledge, this paper draws lessons from research findings of psychology, sociology,communication studies, political science and so on to interpret this problem. Thepurpose of this paper is providing a new channel for the construction of civil societyin China, promoting the innovation of social management and making our modest forthe development of civil society in China.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is to clarify some concepts including Cyberspace, public sphere,civil society. Combing the concepts make preparations for elaborating the frameworkof this paper.The second chapter introduces multidimensional perspective of Internet, basedon the knowledge of psychology, sociology, communication studies and so on toelaborate Internet development separately. There are three parts in this chapter. The Internet is personality extension, as a public field, as social media. Through thesethree parts, this paper tries to answer the relationship between netizen and citizen inthe main line of Netizen-Citizen-Civil Society.The third chapter introduces the main performance of the Internet promoting theconstruction of civil society. This part focuses on the construction of civil society,placing the issue under the background of the Internet. This chapter has three parts:public domain and private domain, the Internet promoting the cultivation of citizenconsciousness, the Internet promoting Citizens’ Political Participation. Through thisthree parts, this paper tries to answer the relationship between citizen and civil societyin the main line of Netizen-Citizen-Civil Society.The fourth chapter attempts to introduce the predicament of the Internetpromoting civil society. This part combines with the Internet and own characteristicsof civil society to elaborate the encountering predicaments. This chapter has two parts:the limitations of the Internet, institutional barriers in reality.The fifth chapter is the summary and recommendations. Aimed at above chapters,this part makes a summary and puts forward my suggestions to promote theconstruction of civil society of Chinese characteristic socialism.
