In the rapid developing modern society, information has become an importantstrategic resource. Pushed forward by technological and informational revolution, theworld today is now undergoing a process of breaking down and re-constructing theeconomic order and structure, which has changed the world economy from beingmaterial-oriented to being information-oriented. Modern enterprises are now confrontedwith both the opportunity of a rapid development by quickly breaking down the oldercompetitive order and the threat of competition brought about by informationaleconomy and globalization. Thus, it is a significant topic concerning how theenterprises in our country can gain the sustained advantage of competition andinitiative.Although more and more enterprises have realized the importance of technologicalapplication in different areas as product design, manufacturing, administration andmarketing, many of these enterprises have not really understood the inner mechanism ofinformatization in promoting enterprises competition. What they are doing nowadays isto apply these technologies mechanically in business management and totally neglectthe integration of technologies into organizational resources, business innovation,organizational structure and management mode so and so forth which failed to turntechnologies into competitive strength of enterprises. This paper first analyzes the rolewhich informatization play on the enterprise, informatization plays an important role onthe innovation and organization and management of enterprise, on the other hand,informatization also helps to shape a good image and marketing. Informatization helpsto improve enterprise’s competitive power base on four ways. Informatization can helpsenterprise to cut cost and make difference and form an unbounded extend competitivepower, and informatization also can reduces information asymmetry and improvecompetitive power directly. We use a case study first and then base on the questionnaireof60enterprises in Qingdao, China. We use structure model analyze the effects ofinformatization on competitive power, the result as follows, the informatization canimprove the ability of cost reducing and making difference and to gain an unboundedcompetitive power, in addition, informatization itself can also improve the competitivepower of enterprise, as an important strategic resource.
