Demographical researchers have done a lot of work about the relationship between populationcondition and economic development. On one hand, a good population age structure willpromote economic development. One other hand, economic development will play influence onpopulation age structure by affecting the birth rate and mortality rate. Population&Economicdevelopment includes rich topics, like population quantity、quality、structure and so on.Age structure is a vital attribute of population, so it is significant to find out the influence ofpopulation age structure variation on economical development. Population is a unification ofproducers and consumers. People in different age have different producing and consumingcapacity. Infants and youngsters have no capacity to work for maintaining themselves, so theirnecessary lives have to rely on their parents’ support. In other words, they are pure consumers.The aging group are in the same case, they need to live on with the support of their children. Thepeople aged between15and64are called working-age people. They are the main members oflabor force. Generally speaking, most of them work and give contribution to the economicdevelopment.This paper aims to study the influence of population age structure on economic development inGuangdong Province based on the demographic dividend perspective. It is composed of5chapters as below:Chapter1is an introduction, consisting of the background and the outline of the research. Inchapter2, we review some theoretical basic, research summary. Chapter3includes the featuresof the population age structure change in Guangdong Province and the main factors leading tothe feature. In chapter4, we examine the first demographic dividend and the seconddemographic dividend separately. The last chapter is a conclusion, the following conclusionshave been made:(1) the population age structure has undergone a large change, in a processfrom adult-type to old-type.(2) Labor force supply has play an important role in economicgrowth since1978.(3) Population dependent rate brings an obvious influence on savings rates.Both the young dependent rate and old dependent rate are negative to economic growth inGuangdong Province.
