As the core driving force of national economic development strategyand knowledge innovation system, entrepreneurship and university-basedtechnology transfer (EUTT) stimulates the universities’ innovationpotential, promoting enterprises’ core competency and guarding regionaleconomic development. The development of equity transfer market andcapital market are greatly impacted by the efficiency of EUTT. Accordingto its specific characteristics, EUTT faces various challenges in differentareas, such as process optimization, venture capital investment, interestcoordination. The extant research on the formal and informal transfer channels andthe efficiency of EUTT is sparse and so to advance the understanding of thisdissertation.Firstly, we recognize different levels of profit, action and risk tobuild formal and informal EUTT conceptual models including university researcher, technology transfer office (TTO) and enterprise, who arethe key participants in the transfer process. The conceptual models canhelp to draw conclusion on tangible and intangible incentive effect. Thenwe apply game theory for mathematical methodology and rigorousanalysis to better grasp the influence mechanism on the efficiency ofEUTT.Secondly, we build different game models according to two actualsituations described below. When the university researchers foundedenterprise by themselves, dynamic games with asymmetric information isused to identify the influential factors of the EUTT efficiency under theformal transfer channel, in order to form a basic for the subsequentanalysis of impact mechanism. Considering the balance between theacademic value and commercial value, the game model is then modifiedto the cooperative pattern to draw a clear conclusion about the positiveeffect cooperation has on the EUTT efficiency. When the universityresearchers are different from entrepreneurs, according to the intangibilityof the resources contributed, impact mechanism of informal transfer isanalyzed under double moral hazard condition, and then reputation anddynamic modification system are introduced to improve the efficiency ofEUTT. Further analysis about the impact mechanism of formal transfer is based on the double principal-agent model modified with probabilityconstraints under incomplete information, and then the necessity offormal channel and the vital function of comprehensive managementability of TTO are discussed. Finally, the policy factors identified in previous conclusions relatemainly to policy competence, such as the incentive mechanism, TTO’sintermediation, and intellectual property, so policy recommendationsand development strategies are proposed to perfect the regional or nationalEUTT policy systems and to effectively improve the efficiency.
