As we entered into the21stcentury, China’s automobile industry has entered a stage of rapiddevelopment, and vehicle production grows year by year. China has surpassed the US and Japan,become the world’s largest automobile production base. But due to the rapid development of globaleconomy, competition among enterprises has shifted to the competition between supply chains.Automobile industry, as the lead of industry, has increasing demand to the whole supply chain. That’sbecause of the complex industrial manufacturing, large scale, cruel market competition, and thediversity customer needs. However, China’s automotive logistics is still in the less developed stage.Compared with the Western and Japanese auto industry, the relative cost of logistics is still relativelyhigh. Automotive logistics operation completely can not keep up with the pace of development. In theAuto manufacturing logistic system, due to spare parts’ variety, large quantity and difficult management,Inbound logistics is considered to be the most complex elements of supply chains and plays a crucialrole to ensure reliability of spare parts’ supply.This article focuses on China’s automotive inbound logistics problem. Firstly, define the conceptand elements of automotive inbound logistics, then, through literature research and field studies, analyzethe basic model of China’s automotive inbound logistics and the problems of the traditional model.Secondly, propose the double Milk-run inbound logistics model, specifically analyze the applicableprerequisites, logistics model, application characteristics and the specific process design, and separatelydescribe their main functions in the light of three operation subjects in the mode. Thirdly, emphasis thatone of the key elements for operating the double Milk-run is equalization, and based on the equalization,design a route optimization model for the recycling cycle of pickup and delivery. Finally, through apractical example, design a double Milk-run inbound logistics planning based on production needs,including delivery frequency, delivery path, the departure and arrival time of each such node, etc. Andanalyze the example results, come to the conclusion about reducing costs and saving resources. It isperceived that setting with the double Milk-run automotive inbound logistics model to the logisticoperation of the supply chain between the upstream parts suppliers and auto manufacturers can reduceoverall inventory costs of supply chain, accelerate the reaction rate, realize the rational and effectiveallocation of resources.
