There is an intrinsic link between social risk and economic development.Economic development has both positive factors that reduce social risk and alsonegative factors that increase social risk. A country’s economic developmentultimately promoting social stability or increasing social risk depends on a number offactors, such as the speed of economic growth, the stability of economic growth, thestage of economic development, the balance of economic development and so on. Onthe basis of existing research, this paper analyze the relationship between social riskand economic development in China. Using the data of china from1984to2010, thispaper by econometric analysis finds that there is negative correlation between socialrisk and the speed of economic growth, and negative correlation between social riskand the stability of economic growth, and inverted "U"-shaped relationship betweensocial risk and the level of economic development, and inter-regional uneveneconomic development has become an important factor of social risk. International orregional economic crisis will also affect the country’s social risk, but the effect is notsignificant. China’s social risk arises primarily from domestic, not from external.
