The energy supply structure and consumption structure determines thecoal-based economy of China. Coal resources have made an indelible contribution forChina’s economic and social development. But as long-term exploitation, coalresources gradually become exhausted. The use of coal has also brought a number ofdevelopment issues, such as environmental issues, waste issues, security issues,economic issues and so on."Curse of resources" puzzles China’s economic and socialdevelopment. How to reduce the extensive use of coal is the question placed in frontof the resource-based economy. In the context of global low-carbon economy and theuse of new energy, China has proposed to the target that non-fossil energy shares the15%of the primary energy consumption in2020. Therefore coal-based economictransition is imminent. In this context, study on the influence of coal-based economytransition has a certain practical significance.Foreign scholars. Sagar, who put forward the theory of energy technologyinnovation, provided the resource-based economy transition research a newperspective. On the basis of the literature at home and abroad, this thesis useddeductive method and proposed three elements affecting the transition in theperspective of energy technology innovation: energy technology innovation, energymarket and institution. Next the thesis made assumptions that the transition elementsaffected the transition performance through the transition behavior, and thenestablished the theoretical model. The thesis used questionnaire on investigation andanalysis, sent questionnaires to Shanxi, Shandong, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and othersthrough e-mail, mail, etc. The objections were mostly the mining companies and therelevant government departments. After three months, the questionnaires are allreceived and the thesis started statistical data analysis. Using the SPSS17.0software,the thesis carried out descriptive statistical analysis and exploratory factor analysis, including sample distribution, reliability and validity testing. As examining the dataconsistency, the thesis started on structural analysis and confirmatory factor analysisusing LISREL8.70. Then operated the data and got the structural equation model. Thepath analysis proved that the direct effect on the three transition elements to thetransition performance, and the indirectly effect through the actions of the transitionbehaviors were significant. Finally, in accordance with the conclusions, the thesis putforward the management recommendations on energy technology innovation, energymarkets and institutional.
