The Effect Of Innovation On Business Performance In Livestock And Poultry Processing Enterprises

As the center linkage connecting rural and urban, breeding and consumption in the industrial chain, livestock and poultry slaughtering and meat products processing industry can not only promote the development of the traditional industries such as agriculture, feed industry and animal husbandry,but also is closely related to human lives. So the industry has been attracting people’s attention. While, the technology and equipment of livestock and poultry slaughtering and meat products processing industry is backward, the added value of the product is very low, the enterprises’ competitive strength is not enough. In order to promote the smooth and quick development of industry, it is very urgent to carry out enterprise innovation.Along with the improvement of people’s living standards and the change of consumption viewpoints, more and more consumers come to select the nutritious, healthy and convenient high-quality meat products. Thus the livestock and poultry slaughtering and meat products processing enterprises are meeting good market opportunity. What is the present situation of the innovation in the livestock and poultry slaughtering and meat products processing enterprises? What are the effects of different innovations on enterprises’ performances? Does the dynamics and uncertainty of environment can moderate the relationship between innovation and performance? In order to study above problems, this article selects the large and medium-sized enterprises of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan provinces to investigate the innovation. By using the SPSS20.0software, we apply factor analysis method to extract nine factors including radical product innovation, gradual product innovation, process innovation, marketing innovation, technical change, market demand change, policy change, financial performance and innovation performance. Then, we make use of the Smart PLS software to analyze the relationship between different latent variables.The sample consisted of90completed questionnaires. The database is analyzed by descriptive and empirical method. The results are as follows:large enterprise’s gradual product innovation level is higher than the small enterprise; the process innovation ability of large enterprises is stronger than medium-sized enterprises. There exist differences between small and large enterprises in radical product innovation, financial performance and innovation performance. In terms of the relationship between innovation and performance, gradual product innovation capability has significant influence on innovation performance and financial innovation. There is significant positive linkage between process innovation and innovation performance. Besides, marketing innovation has significantly positive effect on financial performance. The dynamism and uncertainty of environment has no moderating effect on business performance. While the dynamism and uncertainty of environment significantly moderates the relationship between innovation activities and innovation performance.Based on the result, some suggestions were put forward:speeding up the elimination of backward production capacity, carrying out the industrial upgrading. Enlarge and strengthen the livestock and poultry slaughtering and meat product processing industry. Adjust product structure of the poultry and meat products, develop all kinds of conditioning products and enhance enterprises’ technology and equipment. Deepen the new marketing concept and establish awareness of well known brand. Enterprises must be good at finding the market change and seize the opportunities to promote the development. The study result is expected to offer reference for enterprise’s management decision-making.
