Research On The Interactive Development In Fujian Industrial Cluster And Urbanization

Industrial clusters, which is a enterprise network that formed through specialization in a certain area, has become the widespread economic phenomena under the background of global economy. Many domestic and foreign economist has proved the significant connection between industrial cluster and urbanization by reaching those phenomena of industrial clusters in Silicon Valley region of United States northeastern Italy, and China’s Taiwan. One of main force of urbanization development is the spatial agglomeration of economic activities. Process of the urbanization is to gather various elements, like population, capital, technology, and so on, while the industrial clusters guide and accelerate the process that concentration and distribution to these elements. Hence, the evolution of industrial clusters is the key to give impetus to urbanization. Meanwhile, the enhancement of urbanization, by rationale layout of urban spatial structure, the improvement of infrastructure and supporting facilities, the establishment of the system and institution, is to create a sound environment for development.Since the policy of reforming and opening up in China, Fujian Province has achieved great success. Its urbanization rate has increased from1978’s13.9%to2011’s58.1%, and68industrial clusters have been formed. But as a southeastern province, its economic development and regional competitiveness still have certain gap, comparing to other eastern coastal provinces. Besides, Fujian Province is the one that closest to Taiwan, but the regions of Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta seem more attractive than Fujian Province. They attract more FDI. This paper analyzes the relationship and mechanism of industry clusters and urbanization, explores the ways to urgent economic and social development in Fujian Province, promote West Coast Economic Zone to become the growth pole of southeast coast of China.This paper firstly summed up the basic theory of industrial clusters and urbanization, and expounded the theory on the relativity of industrial clusters and urbanization. Then, basis on overviewing the present situation of industrial clusters, urbanization in Fujian Province, it analyzed the mechanism of the interactional relativity, took Jinjiang City as an example to approach to the pattern the relativity and pointed out that the problem exists in the interactive development of industry clusters and urbanization process. Finally, for the report, one proposed the suggestions that can further enhance the level of Fujian’s industrial clusters and urbanization, make them positive interaction.
