Influence Of Tourism Development On Folk Culture

In this thesis, Liming Lisu Folk Culture Tourism Village in Lijiang was selected as a study case which was to research and explore the impact that tourism development has brought to local folk culture. With a detailed case description and study, the paper also tries to reveal the intrinsic connection between tourism development and the protection and heritage of folk culture. Besides, the writer gives suggestions about how to protect and inherit traditional folk cultures when it is experiencing great challenges since local tourism is showing more and more influence in a changing market economy as well as existing culture shocks.Liming village is one of the oldest concentrated areas of Lisu nationalities in Yunnan and people there are still keeping traditional Lisu folk culture. Liming Lisu folk culture tourism village is located in the Laojun Mountain National Geological Park of Liming in Lijiang. When the Liming scenic spot was first developed in2009, it was also the very beginning of initial tourism development of Liming Village. Yet Liming had always positioned itself as a Folk Culture Tourism Village and made great efforts to build the brand of traditional folk customs of the Lisu. Even though now it’s still the primary stage of its tourism development with many conditions to be better organized and improved, but we are already able to see the impact of the tourism, from both positive and negative side.In this paper, the author analyzes how the residents in Liming get involved in its tourism business by going on filed-trip, observations, on hand surveys and as well as referring to documentary data from local government and the tourism department, analysis and expounded the start, development and the explore situation of Liming Lisu Folk Culture Tourism Village. According to research, the stage which the residents in Liming get involved in its tourism business, is still in the initial stage of development. The community residents’cultural level is lower, participation consciousness is not strong, which leads to the less sufficient comprehensive and in-depth, it won’t be change for a very long period. With the deepening of the tourism development, the exploitation and protection of folk culture tourism is become the topic issue. The author analysis the facts of the Liming lisu folk culture tourism village, and further proposed a new model of " stage performance, curtain, backstage support" to pay both attention to folk culture protection and tourism development, which is to seek mutual development of folk culture and tourism as well as to generate more economic benefits. The model of " stage performance, curtain, backstage support" which combine the protection of folk culture and the exploitation of tourism. This model will cover Liming, Liguang and Lusheng villages, three villages will approach different exploitation, according to the actual situation, form the three interrelated but have different characteristics of tourism development as a whole. As the the development of increasingly mature, the Liming folk culture tourism village will effect the other village near the Liming village. Based on this, we will try to achieve the combination of tourism development and the protection of traditional lisu and inheritance of folk culture.
