With the global economic recovery, the Rare Earth resources as an important strategic resource, its range of applications in various fields is getting more and more widely, especially that its role in the promotion of technological innovation and industrial upgrading is becoming increasingly important. Guangdong is one of the province in China which has the widest range of the Rare Earth mineral resources, and has ionic heavy Rare Earth with huge reserves which is rarely seen in the world. After decades of development, the Rare Earth industry in Guangdong basically formed a relatively complete industrial system. The Rare Earth mineral processing, separation and smelting technology has reached the international advanced level in Guangdong, and initially shaped the Rare Earth industry group with some regional Characteristic.This article selects GD Rare Earth Industry Group Co.,Ltd as the research object. First a brief summary of the historical background and the significance of the Rare Earth industry development strategy research is introduced, and systematically explained the application of strategic management theory. With the strategic management theory PEST method, Porter’s five forces model, SWOT matrix model analysis tools, this article systematically analyzes the internal and external environment, the competitiveness, opportunities, threats, advantages and disadvantages faced by the GD Rare Earth Industry Group Co.,Ltd. On this basis, the general idea, the objectives, the development direction and focus areas of GD Rare Earth Industry Group Corporation have been brought up. The development strategy for GD has also been designed that GD should take full advantages of Rare Earth resources, as well as the advantages of the good base of industry and the research and development, to vigorously implement the control of resource strategy, vertical integration, industrial cluster strategy, merging&acquisitions and restructuring&alliance strategy. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the smooth implementation of the strategy, a series of safeguards are developed to ensure the achievement of the overall strategic objectives, and further develop&expand the Rare Earth industry in Guangdong, and finally bring the Rare Earth resource advantages into economic advantages.The study of the subject, starting from the reality of the competitive environment of China’s Rare Earth industry, has certain reference significance to enhance the core competitiveness of GD Rare Earth Industry Group Co.,Ltd and to optimize the industrial structure. It also can be referenced on how to improve the overall performance of the Rare Earth industry chain and the industrial strategic development.
