Employee voice behavior is very significant to organizational development and innovation. However, employee voice behavior to their supervisor is not very satisfied in reality. Leader-member exchange relationship should be one of the key factors which influence employee voice behavior. This paper focused on the relation among leader-member exchange, organization-based self-esteem, perceived insider status and employee voice behavior, and verifies the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem and perceived insider status beween leader-member exchange and employee voice behavior. Based on the analysis of the effect of leader-member exchange on voice behavior and its mechanism of action, this paper takes employees’individual characteristics into consideration to explore the differences of this mechanism between different individuals.By the summarizing of existing related research, this paper concludes the research model and hypothesizes based on employees’self concept along with the logic mind of ’leader-member exchangeâ†'organization-based self-esteemâ†'voice behavior’and ’leader-member exchangeâ†'perceived insider statusâ†'voice behavior’. Getting data by the questionnaire survey from218effctive subjects, this paper processes static analysis including description analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis with SPSS17.0, examining the mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem and perceived insider status, and the moderating effect of self-monitoring.The empirical result shows that leader-member exchange is an important factor that influences employee voice behavior. Leader-member exchange has a positive effect with employee voice behavior. Promotive voice behavior is influenced by leader-member exchange relationship through employees’self-perception. Organization-based self-esteem and perceived insider status are the inner impetus to promotive voice behavior. Meanwhile, the effct of leader-member exchange relationship to voice behavior is also influenced by the level of employees’self-monitoring.This paper probably has made innovation on the basis of previous studies and enriched the antecedents of voice behavior. Differ from most existing related research which regards leadership behavior as one way, this paper explores the influences of different exchange relationships between leaders and subordinates in the view of leader-member exchange theory, providing a new perspective for voice behavior. Meanwhile, unlike other studies on mechanisms of voice behavior from social exchange theory, this paper reveals endogenous motive of employee voice behavior in the view of employee self-concept, and analyzes mediating effect of organization-based self-esteem and perceived insider status between leader member exchange and voice behavior. Considering the influence of personality characteristics, this paper verifies and analyzes moderating effect of employees’self-monitoring between leader-member exchange relationship and voice behavior.
