Arable land itself is an eco-system, which plays a very important role in the soil and water conservation of a certain area, environmental cleanup, ecological regulation and aesthetic and cultural services. The adverse factors of social, economic and cultural result in the problems of the arable land ecological security. But the most fundamental reason is that China has long been in the simple pursuit of economic value and social value of the land in the process of land development and utilization, ignoring the cultivated systems ecological value. This article proceeds from the perspective of protecting the rights and interests of farmers, exploring the game between the various stakeholders of the farmland ecological compensation, drawing some requirements for the effective implementation of farmland ecological compensation. I combine the status quo of China’s cultivated land ecological compensation and find the problems, then analyze the corresponding causes of the problems from aspects of the central government, local government and farmers. By drawing the experience on the ecological compensation practice of the arable land in the United States, some EU member states and Japan, this article draws the suggestions of improving our country’s farmland ecological compensation.
