With the competition of Chinese financial market becoming more intense, commercial banks must compete for customers, increase the amount of businesstransactions and transaction volume, in order to continue as a going concern andincrease profits. Account manager soon become the main force to create profits. As an all-round service positions within the bank, account manager needs to haveexcellent quality, as the capital to compete for customers, which will directly affectthe bank’s reputation in the market and operating efficiency. Therefore, setting up theperformance evaluation mechanism for client manager is particularly important, which can lighting this competition, enhancing the sense of crisis of account managerand guiding them to constantly upgrade their operational capacity, level of service andethical standards.According to the operating mode of the domestic commercial banks, accountmanagers’ working characteristics, and the research achievements of related fields, this paper sets the renewed Balanced Score Card theory as a framework, establishinga comprehensive evaluative index system from the five dimensions of financial, customer, internal business processes, learning and growth and moral qualities. At thesame time, using the Job description of client manager to design the elaborate index ofthese five dimensions, finalized the client manager performance evaluation indexsystem with5first-level indicators and22secondary indicators. This systemconsiders the client managers’ business ability, behavior and attitude comprehensively. On this basis, the client managers’ performance will be evaluated respectively byusing three comprehensive assessment methods with the method of analytic hierarchyprocess, which are grey clustering theory, grey relational analysis and extensiontheory. At last, there is a classification of the client manager performance in theevaluative result, which is a basis for the related departments of banks to make thefollow-up decisions. Finally, this paper pays more attention to the practical application of the accountmanager performance evaluation model. Take the Beijing YC Sub-branch of Industrialand Commercial Bank for example, and evaluating its client managers’ performance.By comparing these evaluative results from three methods, it indicates the superiorityof the grey clustering method. This example demonstrates that the model is well inhandling the problem of the bank account managers’performance evaluation.
