At present,many developed countries and developing countries in the world are faced withdifferent levels of population aging. Due to the low fertility level,mortality declining and theextension of average life expectancy,the process of the aging of the population is accelerating.The aging population is becoming an important factor which can influence a country’s or aregion’s social and economic development.Jilin province entered the aging society in2003. Aging before rich and the fast growth ofaging are both characteristics of the population aging in Jilin province. There are hugedifferences between the elderly and the others on the consumption problems and consumptionstructures. Therefore, Jilin province’s aging level will affect its residents’ consumptionstructure.This paper starts with the relationship between population aging and consumption,which isresearched by Chinese and foreign scholars,analyzing the situation of the Jilin’s populationaging and the structure of consumption. Based on the features about population agingmentioned above, this paper deeply researches the influence to the Jilin province’sconsumption structure from aging. Through the grey relative analysis of measurement indemonstration research department,we get the results that the correlative degree is very highamong the aging population and health care, transportation, communications, clothing,food and so on. At last, the paper put forward countermeasures to deal with the agingpopulation,which include: Promotion on the development of aging industry; Perfecting theold-age social security system; Upgrading the public service for aging people and theinnovation of community endowment pattern.
