In1992, with assistance from Asian Development Bank, the six countries along the Greater Mekong River entered into a program of the Greater Mekong Sub-region Economic Cooperation (GMS), and GMS has made great progress in transport, energy, telecommunications, environment, agriculture, human resource development, tourism, trade facilitation and investment in the past20years. In the transport sector, the six countries signed<The Greater Mekong Sub-region Cross-Border Transport Agreement>(CBTA). The agreement is designed to facilitate cross-border movement of goods and people. The parties desired to contribute to the further development of trade in the Situation of economic transition, and determined to promote cooperation of road transport. In the framework of CBTA, the facilitation of cross-border road transport in GMS is what this paper study. In April2005, Guangxi joined the GMS and actively promoted the implementation of CBTA. It has achieved initial progress in road construction, port construction, the opening of the Cross-border facilitation transport routes and customs clearance facilitation, but there are still many problems in single window clearance, one-stop inspection, point-to-point direct transport. This paper analyzes the problems of Guangxi’s participation in the highway Cross-border facilitation transport cooperation of the Greater Mekong sub-region by analyzing the status of it and deep research. Some proposals about coordination with the GMS countries, domestic coordination, construction of the highway, port construction, clearance facilitation, industry associations and enterprises are put forward on the basis of domestic and international experience.
