The growth of enterprise has been a popular issue for economists andmanagement scholars. In recent years, scholars began to study the link betweenentrepreneurs and business growth, and thought that entrepreneur competences play akey role in business growth. In such a competitive market environment, companieswant to grow continually, they not only need to obtain the necessary resources, butalso need outstanding entrepreneurs who can reassemble resources to make thecompany grow fast. The thesis is based on previous studies, trying to sort out theimpact of entrepreneurs on firm growth.In this thesis, we summarize the meaning of entrepreneur competence andconstitute dimensions and the relations between entrepreneur competence andbusiness growth through literature review. We analyze the impact of entrepreneurcompetence on business growth and build a conceptual model and index system ofhow entrepreneurs affect business growth. Lately we use correlation analysis, multipleregression analysis to verify the hypothesis.On the basis of the literature review, we use empirical analysis to verify theimpact of entrepreneur competence on business growth, as well as different controlvariables on entrepreneur and business growth. The following conclusions are: inseveral entrepreneur competences, the most influence on business growth isentrepreneur’s innovation capabilities and management capacity, and have a strongpositively correlated with business growth while the opportunity competence andrelationship competence have not significantly affected. Analyze the control variablesuch as enterprise characteristics and personal characteristics, we found that theeducation level, type of business registration, enterprise-scale have significantdifferences to entrepreneur competence and business growth, while the entrepreneursage, Reign length and the business of history have not significant differences.The results of this study have inspired sense of business practice. Companiesshould recognize the importance of cultivation of entrepreneur competence andimprove the training channels, and strengthen entrepreneur training to improve theirabilities through a rigorous selection mechanism to encourage the rapid growth ofenterprises.
