The Research On Historical And Cultural City Of Turpan Community Participation In Tourism Development Model

Turpan, the region which develops its tourism in the early stage, is also one of theonly three historical and cultural cities of Xinjiang. It has both relatively maturedevelopment experience in tourism and practical experience of communityparticipation in tourism development. However, the advantageous resources fordeveloping tourism are the unique natural environment and historical factors.Based on summarizing the theoretical and empirical research of communityparticipation in tourism development in the domestic and overseas, this papercombines the general theory of community participation in tourism development, thetourism life cycle theory, the stakeholder theory, and other relevant theories. TakeTurpan as research object, in the northwest area of China, it is one of the nationalhistorical and cultural cities. through the on-the-spot investigation methods ofquestionnaire,field interviews and so on, this paper has summarized thecomprehensive analysis of the status and participation mode about localcommunity participation in tourism development. From the different perspectives ofcommunity residents, tourists and tourism management departments, this paper aimsto improve the existing mode of participation, and further propose mode the Turpansuitable community participation in tourism development.Turpan as a historical and cultural city is located in the northwest minority areas,cultural differences and environmental differences may exist here compared withmost of others tourism communities, the most attractive tourism resources is itsunique culture. And the essence of community participation in tourism developmentshould be focused on getting rid of poverty and seek development of communityresidents, so the core problem of community participation in tourism development inTurpan, for the community residents, is how to effectively participate in tourismdevelopment and to keep fairness about the distribution of interests. The superioritythat Turpan community participation in tourism development lies in its geographicconditions, economic base, cultural specificity, and economic development of thespace-time limit, these factors have led to the present main mode of Turpancommunity participation in Tourism Development: community residents toparticipate in the individual, community organizations take charge of some simpleoperation and management. In order to enable communities into truly substantiveparticipate in tourism development, it is necessary to process from the reality, and putforward the mode suitable for the Turpan community participation in tourism development. The main achievements of the paper lies in the theoretical analysis andthe actual findings of community participation in tourism development not onlyincrease the income of the residents, and enhance the residents’ awareness of culturalidentity, improve visitor satisfaction while visitors to experience the tourismatmosphere, which is beneficial to the tourism community and even the entire Turpanregion’s economic, cultural and social sustainable development. At the same time,from the reality different communities to build participation in tourism developmentmodel should be based on community tourism resources, development status. Underthe laws and regulations, the civil society organizations oversight, coordination andbalance, in accordance with the government-led decision and macro guidance,tourism enterprises and communities work closely with the parties to work togetherto construct the local needs of the community participation model to promote tourismdevelopment as well as the development of the tourist community of Turpan.
