The degree of the urbanization is one of the important indexes to measure a country’slevel of economic development. Since the reform and opening up, Chinese urbanization ratehas been greatly improved, but along with economic development, environmental problemshave become increasingly serious. In china most provinces are on the stage of the Chineseurbanization rate increase with the increasing environmental pollution. When the totaldischarge of pollutions exceeding the capacity of the environmental self-purification, it willcause widespread damage to the ecological environment, and will affect the city’ssustainable development. So in order to achieve the sustainable development of Chineseurbanization, we must take measures of low energy consumption, low emissions, lowpollution, walking the path of low-carbon urbanization. This is the fundamental way to build alow-carbon society. This paper choose the paths of development of Chinese low-carbon urbanization as theresearch object. Firstly, analyzing the development situation and the stage of the Chineselow-carbon urbanization. Secondly, the study focus on some problems and restricting factorsin the process of the low-carbon urbanization development, such as inefficient energy use;lack of developing impetus of low-carbon technologies; lack of effective financial; lack ofcivic consciousness carbon; imperfect policy oversight mechanism. On this basis, it alsotargeted analyzes the patterns of low-carbon urbanization of Britain, Japan and the UnitedStates. Finally, according to the environmental Kuznets theory,"tunnel effect" theory and thetheory of decoupling carbon emissions, put forward reasonable proposals about optimizingthe industrial structure; promoting industrial upgrading; managing and operating the city withlow-carbon; improving the energy consumption structure and developing the renewableenergy; exploring the urban low-carbon innovation; advocating low-carbon lifestyle.
