A Study Of The Great-Leap-Forward Development In Northern Part Of Anhui

Anhui is an under-developed province with a vast territory. The trend of economic imbalance has become apparent in recent years. The difference among North and South, East and West, various cities and counties is bigger and bigger. The northern part of Anhui Province, commonly known as Northern Anhui Province, is increasingly being exploited in the pattern of regional development, and gradually being marginalized. It is truly a less developed region. In the economic depressed Wanbei district, it is a cardinal task of how to choose the development strategy to achieve leapfrog development for Anhui regional economic development.This thesis studies on six cities and eighteen counties in Northern Anhui, and based on the collection of a large number of basic economic development data in Northern Anhui, fully absorbs the economic development theory in less developed regions and empirical research overview, compares to the whole range of peripheral and central regions and studies the current situation of the economic development with statistical analysis methods to reveal its backwardness. In this paper, the author decomposes the increase of labour productivity into the pure productivity effect, Baumol effect and Denison effect with exponential method and on that basis, analyses the convergence problems of labor productivity in the counties of Northern Anhui since1996. Then, this paper sets up the spatial econometric model of22cities, including Northern Anhui and urban agglomeration, Xuzhou city group, estimated by the spatial correlation coefficient, analyses regional economic interdependence, which is called spatial spillover influence. And then it combines with Anhui North reality, explores an approve way of the northern Anhui leapfrog development. The results showed that Northern Anhui economic development can be achieved by industry contacts and regional cooperation. Finally, according to the basic conclusions of the study and with regional formal policy evaluation and testing, it proposes to optimize the industrial structure, strengthen industrial linkages and regional cooperation, promote the transfer of rural surplus labor, strengthen infrastructure, and increase investment.
