As the market changes constantly in recent years, the small and medium-sized enterprises which are product of commodity economy in our country present a tenacious vitality and become the half of our national economy. Consequently, researches about the small and medium-sized enterprises have also been increasing gradually. Entrepreneur as the soul of enterprise is the crucial factor to resolve the growth of the enterprise. The factors of the entrepreneur include education background, technical ability, value, population characteristics and so on. These factors above affect the growth of the enterprise indirectly. Entrepreneur is a special kind of human capital when he operates the enterprise. The development of an enterprise depends on the entrepreneur and the development of a country depends on a large number of entrepreneurs. The researches about the change rule of the accumulation and the stock of the entrepreneurs’ human capital have very vital significance above theoretical and practical to promote the growth of the enterprise and the economic development of a country.My article gives priority to manufacturing to discuss how entrepreneurs’ characteristics impact on the growth of enterprise. I want to make an analysis of the relationship between the entrepreneurs’ characteristics and the growth of enterprise combining with the current economic environment and social environment of my country and put forward constructive suggestions to develop the small and medium-sized enterprises rapidly.While building a conceptual model about entrepreneurs’characteristics and the growth of enterprise on the basis of124small and medium-sized enterprises, I make an analysis of current situation according to interviewing some entrepreneurs in the field. I build up a model that how the entrepreneur characteristics influence the growth of his firm from two angles which consist of objective characteristics and psychological characteristics. To make an analysis of entrepreneur objective characteristics and psychological characteristics, I collect data in the form of interviewing and issuing questionnaires. I use data processing software named SPSS to make multiple regression analysis. Entrepreneur characteristics include seven factors in my research which divide into objective characteristics and psychological characteristics. Objective characteristics include age, educational background, attention and social capital; Psychological characteristics include achievement need, risk preferences and c. I use five indicators to measure enterprise growth. The five indicators include net profit margin, net profit margin, total asset growth rate, growth rate of gross profit and total asset turnover. My control variables are the size and age of enterprise which may impact the study model in the process of research.My thesis is divided into five parts altogether. The first and second part review related concept and the principle about enterprises, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs’ characteristics and the growth of enterprises. The third and fourth part I put forward hypothesis and establish the model. In addition, I use the software named SPSS to analyze data. I think the internal and external factors jointly in enterprise promote the growth of the enterprise. Entrepreneur is the basis of the growth of firm. Entrepreneur is not only the designer and organizer about the growth factors of enterprise and structure, is also the main driving force for its growth. Researching the influence about entrepreneurs themselves and the growth of firm has very realistic significance. By studying the relationship between entrepreneurs’ characteristics and the growth of enterprise, we can improve the entrepreneur’ characteristics to make firms get better growth. Based on previous research, I divide two aspects about entrepreneur’ characteristics into objective and psychological.The results showed that entrepreneur’s age is positively related to the growth of enterprise, attention is positively related to the growth of enterprise, social capital is positively related to the growth of enterprise, achievement need is positively related to the growth of enterprise, mental model is positively related to the relationship. But education background has no significant impact to the growth, risk preferences is negatively related to the growth of enterprise. I make a detailed analysis for the reasons for these results. At the end of the paper I put forward some proposals according to the results from the relationship between the characteristics and the growth of enterprises to improve small and medium-sized enterprises. Therefore, to speeding up the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, we should improve the entrepreneurs’ objective and psychological characteristics.
