Research On The Competitiveness Of Modern Service Industry In Chongqing

With the rapid development of information technology, the internal structure of service industry has been changing, modern service industry which is characterized by low resource consumption, high value-added, high-tech gradually breaks away from the traditional service industry, and becomes the core of service industry, it’s effect in the development of society and economy has vastly increased, the development degree of modern service industry has become an important reference point of measuring the level of socio-economic development.The economic development in China demonstrated to be not rational in industrial structure and not environment-friendly in recent years, these phenomenon seriously restrict China’s economic development sustained and rapidly. Chongqing confront with the same problem in economic development, with the manufacturing sector as a competitive industries of Chongqing is facing the pressure of upgrading it’s structure, the speed of overall economic development of Chongqing has slowed down. There is an urgent need to upgrade the structural of traditional industries for changing this unfavorable situation. Modern service industry as a new industry which is knowledge-intensive and environment-friendly, is important to optimize the structure of traditional industries, therefore, it is necessary to study the current development of the modern service industry and make recommendations for improvement it. Not only can enrich the theory of competitiveness of modern service industry, but also is great significant to promote better development of modern service industry in Chongqing.This paper take the modern service industry in Chongqing as the research object, based on the theory of service sector, we defines the connotation of the modern service industry and compares the difference relative to the traditional service industries, on the basis, we analyze the current situation of development of the service industry and modern service industry in Chongqing, respectively from the industrial structure, employment structure, fixed assets investment structure. Based on previous research, we establish a scientific system of competitiveness evaluation index system from three aspects:the core competence, environmental competence, basic competence, by analyzing the influencing factors of modem service industry. Based on this index system, we evaluate the competitiveness of the modern service industry in Chongqing using the factor analysis. In view of results of evaluating, we propose the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions of promoting further development of the modern service industry.
