A Study On The Economic Development Of The County Of Aba

County economy is the bridge between macro-economy and micro-economy inChina, and it links urban economy and rural economy. China has totally more than2200counties, whose land area, population, and gross regional product account for more than90%,60%, and50%of national level, respectively. As a result, Chinese countyeconomy plays an important role in increasing the agricultural output and farmerincome, in promoting rural development, urban-rural integration, and the developmentof regional coordination, and in implementing the “moderate prosperity” program inan all-round.Compared with other counties in China, the development of county economy inethnic minority areas is more important and more difficult. Without the well-off ofethnic minority regions, there is no well-off in the whole country. For the constraints ofnatural and geographical conditions, however, the county economic development inminority areas faces a series of problems including low level of economic development,lack of production factors, lagged development of urbanization and industrialization,relatively conservative ideas, and fragile ecological environment. Therefore, it is ofsignificantly theoretical and practical value to study the economic developmentstrategies of ethnic minority areas.By choosing Aba County, Sichuan Province, as the study area, and based onregional economic theory and strategic management theory, this thesis analyzes theinternal and external environment of this county economic development. It reveals theopportunities and challenges faced by this county economy, and its achievement,problems, and gaps in economic development. It put forward to strategic goals, strategicdevelopment path, and related implementation measures. As a conclusion, this thesispoints out that Aba County should take comprehensive measures to promotesimultaneously the development of new-type urbanization and characteristic anddifferentiated industrialization. The implementation measures include: to accelerate theprocess of urbanization to expand domestic demand and promote county economicgrowth; to develop the characteristic advantage industries and construct modern agriculture and animal husbandry demonstration area; to construct modern serviceindustry by develop tourism, commerce, and logistics industry.This thesis put forward some targeted policy recommendations to enhance thecompetitiveness of Aba County. It may provide a valuable reference for other ethnicareas to make good county economic development strategic choice.
