At present, small and medium-sized enterprises are developing very fast in China,playing more and more important roles in promoting the country’s economy and socialprogress. With the severe market competition, the logistics management of small andmedium-sized manufacturing enterprises has also received greater attention. Logistics hasbecome the third profit source of the enterprises, encouraging the enterprises to conducteffective management. This can ensure that the enterprises increase their competition,promoting the enterprises to make speedy and sustainable developments.In view of the logistics situation of Dongguan small and medium sized manufacturingenterprises, although logistics already has enough ecnomic environment and exceptionaladvantages, the great disadvantage and bottle neck effects exist at the same time. Thelogistics patterns of Dongguan small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises arecomparatively backward. These enterprises are not familiar with the outsoucing logisticspolicies such as third party logistics, forth party logistics and so on. Very common, theydevelop their own self-managed logistics systems to conduct procurements and sales forthemselves, giving priority to traditinal logistics service patterns. Therefore, in the logisticsprocess, there are very few value-added services, and logistics management and technologyin the low level. These problems make the small and medium-sized manufacturingenterprises difficult in adapting to the requirements of labor divisions and mass production ofmodern society, difficult in meeting the market demands characterized by high standard,multiple batches, many varieties, small-batches, and high efficiency, and the personalizationand diversification of consumer demands. The negative effects of economic crisis havebrought greater difficultes to Dongguan small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises,so the optimization of logistics management is becoming more urgent.This paper illustrates the research background, purpose and significance of logisticsmanagement in Dongguan small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. On the bsis ofsorting out the related researches of small and medium sized logistics management strategiesby scholars from home and abroad, the theories and knowledge related to logisticsmanagement practice are introduced, which are very useful in the process of studying thelogistics management strategies of small and medium sized manufacturing enterprises.Further analysis is conducted, focusing upon the development of Dongguan small andmedium-sized manufacturing enterprises, recent logistics management situation, existing problems in logistics management. Suggestions for improvements and optimizing strategiesare put forward for logistics management. The enterprises can guarantee their favourablecompetitive position, at the same time, promoting operative and scientific logisticsmanagement. The research achievements have long-term and effective reference value forDongguan small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises. Towards the end of this paper,the actual logistics management situation of a Dongguan small enterprise is analyzed as acase study. On the basis of investgation and analysis, the existing logistics managementproblems of Dongguan small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises are exploredand researched. The general idea and concrete measures are suggested for Dongguan smalland medium sized manufacturing enterprises to improve their logistics management, in orderto decrease operation costs, optimize logistics management and increase competitive strength.
