Study On Drucker’s Social Ecological Management Thought

Drucker, honored as "the founder of modern management science","the father of modern management","the art of Management Master" or even "master the master", is one of the most important management thinkers in twentieth Century, bringing management study into a new era. In2003, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of management practice, Drucker was given "leadership visionary award" by Acadamy of management. Both in the United States and China, Drucker is renowned as an economic management scientist, while himself is not thinking the same way. In2002, he published "social function" preface, says:"my first and foremost concern is not management, my interest to management started with my study of community and society." In1993, Drucker published "ecological vision"(The Ecological Vision:Reflections on the American Condition), the positioning of himself:"I’m not an economist......Not a sociologist......I think I’m a’social ecologists’, I focus on how the human create their own social environment".In today’s study of management, the relevant theories and ideas are often unable to solve problems regarding the survival, competition and sustainable development. We need to change or update the concept, to seek ideas according to changes in the external environment. The ultimate goal is to use interdisciplinary (ecology, sociology, economics, humanities and so on) theory and advanced technology principles to guide and manage our human production, to balance the conflict of human development and ecological environment, and eventually to realize development of human and ecological environment.Value of social ecological management mainly is embodied in four aspects:firstly, the pursuit of economic and ecological balance. Economy is the important element of human society, social management can be easily biased towards economic development, causing irreversible ecological damage. The implementation of social ecological management is aiming to provide a balanced and harmonious development between the human society and ecology. Secondly, a new management paradigm--to adapt to the construction and practice of management. Due to the limitations of cognition and understanding of future evolution trend and human society, we need to avoid irreversible loss by adjusting management scheme. Third, the integral and systematic cognition of nature. The last but not the least, democratic management. Ecological management is an open management advocating the involemnet of the public and organizations.The full text is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction of the management thought of Drucker by clarifying the ecology, social ecology, ecological management concept; the second part is tracing the theoretical source of Drucker’s social ecological thought; the third part focuses on the Drucker’s social ecological management thought in terms of the human nature, ecology, innovative and functional and responsible society construction; the fifth part is to discuss the humanism, innovation and practicalness of Chinese public management based on the study of difficulties and problems in China’s current social development.The main feature is to view Drucker’s management thought from the ecological perspective with the purpose of constructing the functional society, realizing the ecological vision--the common progress and sustainable development of human and nature. Secondly, in order to review management thought of Drucker, the essay is to make comprehensive analysis of the ecological theory, theory of liability, and green theory by adopting the lateral induction and deduction. Finally, combined with the actual situation of the current society, the essay put forward the "five demands" on public management in our country, and ultimately aims to form a new era of ecological civilization.
