Land resources are mankind’s natural resources and material basis for survival, also basic demand protection of regional society and economic development. However, the carrying capacity of land in a certain space and time is limited. In recent years, with the acceleration of Linan’ process of urbanization and industrialization, the growing population and the surge demand for construction land resulted that the contradiction between limited supply and unlimited demand for construction land was very prominent. Coupled with the demand for transportation, energy, water conservancy, environmental protection and other infrastructure projects, all those showed a rapid growth trend of construction demand and caused the conflict aggravation. Therefore, from the perspective of sustainable use, it is necessary to study the land use status and trends. In this paper, based on the theory and methods of researches home and abroad, combined with its own regional characteristics of Linan, the Evaluation Index System of land comprehensive carrying capacity was established. The system contained three support subsystems departure:ecological environment carrying, social carrying and economic carrying, and22evaluation index were selected. Using the method of poor transformation, the decision-making method of variance and coefficient of variation and integrated approach, land carrying capacity of Linan from2005to2012were evaluated. The results showed that:(1) from the perspective of comprehensive carrying capacity, it had a significant growth and the growing rate was relatively high although the overall rising trend was tortuous. The subsystems of Ecological environment carrying capacity, social and economic carrying capacity also had been greatly improved, in which the improving ecological environment made the largest contribution to constantly raising comprehensive carrying capacity;(2) from the point of view of individual carrying capacity, the degree of coordination between the systems was poor:eco-environment carrying capacity had the maximum growth, far more than the social and economic bearing. Therefore, the social and economic levels adapted to the ecological environment carrying level still needed to be further improved;(3) According to the analysis, it came to a conclusion that land comprehensive carrying capacity depended mainly on two factors:first, the status of subsystem; Second, the degree of coordination. Finally, according to the conclusions above, the proposals of improving comprehensive carrying capacity were put forward in terms of the enhancement of eco-environment protection, accelerating economic development and policy guidance.
