With the arrival of economic globalization, multinational enterprises have mushroomed around the world and the number of employees sent abroad has been soaring. Under such circumstance, high cross-cultural ability has become the key element when enterprises select capable employees. Scholars have advanced their studies concerned with cross-cultural management and ability and have achieved fruitful results. Employees sent abroad behave differently in cross-cultural environment, in which case, cultural intelligence (CQ) draws scholars’attention and becomes a standard for measuring cross-cultural ability for the first time. At present, only a few studies of cultural intelligence have been made and rage of the studies is yet to be extended abroad. And few studies of CQ have been made in China.Employees who have cross-cultural experiences at individual level are participants of the study in this thesis. This thesis tries to prove that factors affecting cultural intelligence at individual level have dominant positive impact on cultural intelligence. At the beginning, basing on a plenty of relevant materials, the author figures out standards of testing CQ at individual level, conceptual model and research hypotheses of this thesis. Then the author puts forward a survey of factors affecting cultural intelligence at individual level after reading documents concerned and conducts the survey after having investigated a small sample. After this, by applying SPSS18.0, the author analyzes the data of the questionnaires.The final result of the analysis proves that most of the hypotheses turn out to be right. From this, the author draws the conclusion that extroversion, flexibility, active social interaction, high level of foreign language proficiency, interests in foreign culture and cross-cultural experiences have positive impact on CQ. At the same time, the gender, age, education background and income have a large different influence on cultural intelligence to different individuals. At last, the author points out the drawbacks as well as the prospects of this thesis.
