Rural migrant workers are often in highly insecure conditions in our country. In order to evaluate employment vulnerable status and dynamic change of rural migrant workers, we selected Sichuan migrant workers as the research object and defined rural migrant workers employment vulnerability through the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods on the micro perspective. This paper contain six parts:in section1, we introduced the purpose of the study and what kind of method we will use. In section2, we defined the rural migrant worker and the employment vulnerability of migrant workers. In section3, we built Employment Vulnerability Indicators (EVI) and compared the EVI in different individual characteristics. In section4, we studied the links between EVI and consumer expenditure. The suggestions were discussed in section5and our problems and research prospects are put forward in section6.Literature analysis method and empirical analysis method was selected in this paper. The main results and conclusions are as follows:Firstly, in this paper, the employment vulnerability of migrant workers was defined as:the degree of the setbacks and difficulties which migrant workers face in the labor market and the ability of rural migrant workers to overcome the risks.Secondly, based on the definition of employment vulnerability, we conducted a principal component factor analysis (PCA) on the different aspects of the vulnerability phenomenon. The main components obtained, which represent the different qualitative facets of vulnerability (social insurance, living guarantee, job protection, working time and human capital), are then used as vulnerability variables.Thirdly, this paper gave empirical results on employment vulnerability as follows:there is no significant difference between genders; the older workers may more likely to have higher degree. Moreover, the workers in thirdly industry are significantly higher than that of secondly industry.Lastly, this paper also given empirical results by stepwise regression:the employment vulnerability has a negative effect on expenditure of rural migrant workers.
