With the economic increasing rapidly and the consumption improving globally, especially in the developing countries, people’s requirements on the quality of foods and commodities are more and more. And it speeds up the development of the international flavor&fragrance (F&F) industry.Chinese F&F industry started later, compared with Euramerican countries’. The real bulk production started in1960s. In the passed50years, we have made a considerable development in products quantity, technological innovation, production scale and system management. However, the disparity between Chinese F&F industry and Euramerican’s are very large. The new product development and new technological innovation are mainly generated by multinational companies. Based on the development status of Chinese F&F industry, comparing with Euramerican’s, especially the world’s top four multinational companies in the development history, the status quo and the international competitiveness, this thesis identifies the disparity between Euramerican F&F industry and ours, and gives the suggestions of the future development strategy for our F&F industry.Through the research, we found:Although Chinese F&F industry has made great progress in all aspects such as our production&sales and imports&exports keeping increasing, but the international comparison shows Chinese F&F industry export competitiveness of gum and turpentine oil is very strong, but with the low price and low value; with the low unit price, our export competitiveness of high value perfume and toilet water is much lower than French’s. The large disparity between Chinese companies and Euramerican multinational companies in the scale, technology innovation, competition environment, business field and company history, causes Chinese F&F industury in the low level of Global Value Chain and bringing a lot of problems. Via the research on Global Value Chain and the international competitiveness, we can find the disparity between Euramerican F&F industry and ours, and adjust the future development strategy. So the thesis has the great significance to promote the export strain capacity&international competitiveness, and upgrade the overall level of our F&F industry.
