With the fast pace of economic globalization, and the role of city in national competitiveness is increasingly highlighted, the competition among countries is gradually replaced by competition among cities. As the sixth largest City of world group, the development of economics, society, and culture of The Yangtze River Delta is over any other countries of China, some of them even over the world level.Although the development level of The Yangtze River Delta leads the nation, there are the great differences compared with those of developed cites. Firstly, the contribution degree of urban complex. The sum GDP of the Pearl River Delta, eijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta is about40%of GDP of China, which is about70%in developed country; Secondly, the contribution degree of primary city in urban complex which only one tenth of developed country. So, it is necessary to study comprehensive competitiveness of The Yangtze River Delta, clear inner law of every city, objectively reflect the comprehensive competitiveness of every city.In this article, I set the core16cities of The Yangtze River Delta as my research object, year2003to year2011as time-interval, then get development status of these cities by parallel comparison, get transformation trend and characters by vertical comparison. For example, witch year the development of city is well? And why in this year? On method use, firstly, classify16core cities of The Yangtze River Delta by cluster analysis of IBM SPSS19.0, then the comprehensive competitiveness is diffident of diffident category. Secondly, user method RSW to calculate the score of each city that in the same category, then we can get the rankings of each category. Last, combining the city’s category and score, we can get its ranking in the whole16cities. There are4parts in this article when I analyses these16core cities——Development of economics, Efficiency of government and enterprise, Infrastructure and social system, General Analysis. There are several indicators in every part, and in general Analysis I set all indicators to get the rankings of16core cities. At the end of the article, obtain substantive conclusions from the analysis before, and forecasting the incidences of the rankings of each cities based on a mathematical model and correspondingly puts forward some policy proposals.
