Along with the development of economic and information globalization, the transnational flow and configuration of capital, information, production, human resources and other management elements lead to increasingly fierce international competition. Nowadays, the type of team work is gradually transforming from simple functional team to complex project teams. The relationship between team members becomes more dynamic which can stimulate the creativity and innovation ability of the whole team.This paper focus on the leaders of innovation team in enterprises, who are the heart and soul of a team, often determine the development of the entire team. The articles starts from the meaning of competence and innovative team, summarizing the existing research on this subject, and analysis the role of innovation team leaders in enterprises, so as to find out the competence elements of innovation team leaders. The research summarizes the environment factors and the personal characteristics factors which affect the team leader’s competence. Then, the paper establishes innovation team leader’s competence model. Through the analysis from the questionnaires, the major factors are obtained.The study proposes the psychology-developing strategies, the human resource development strategies and social capital development strategies to team leader’s competence, and put forward the team members’career management methods, as well as strategies to improve the team performance based on the model.
