China is a traditional agricultural power, but not a modern one. Chinese government is increasingly investing in research on agriculture-related technologies year by year, however, a substantial portion of agricultural research findings cannot be transformed into actual productivity, with a commercialization of around30%-40%, compared to60%-90%in developed countries. This is mainly due to inadequate mechanism for commercialization of agricultural technological achievements. Therefore, focus of this article is to, by analysis of existing commercialization mechanism, discuss how commercialization of agricultural research findings can be enhanced, and further, how the mechanism for this commercialization can be effectively promoted. This study is based on systematic perspective and theory of agricultural popularization, and explores the issues in commercialization of agricultural research findings and discuss how to build an adaptable mechanism by combining vertical and horizontal analysis and explaining in detail with theoretical and empirical analysis.Particularly, based on the current conditions for commercialization of agricultural research findings in Taoyuan County, this article finds out the problems in it and analyzes the influencing factors from both broader and narrower perspectives and thereby uncover the crucial reason for these problems. Finally, in combination of the actual circumstances in Taoyuan, and in reference of best practices in China and overseas, it proposes advices on how to build appropriate mechanism for commercialization of agricultural research findings-increasing investment and improving agricultural risk assurance mechanism, enhancing government’s leading role and reforming extension system.
