The problem of aging population is sustained and far-reaching impact on the economy, and will become an important factor restricting the future development of society. Onthe basis of absorbing domestic and foreign scholars, all kinds of research results, from the point of view of theoretical and empirical analysis of the impact ofpopulation aging on the consumer heterogeneity.First, using time series data, correspondence analysis and vector auto regressionmodel to analyze the correlation between the existence of an aging population and theconsumer, to come to an aging population is caused by the change of the variousregions of China consumer a significant factor; followed by use of analysis ofvariance demonstrated an aging population impact on the consumer heterogeneity, theexistence of significant heterogeneity, and economic development of the countriesbeing investigated relationship at the national level, an aging population, theconsumer; again, the1993-2010Chinese provinces and cities in elderly dependencyratio and the tendency of data, and the average consumer consumption model basedon the hybrid model of Campbell and Mankiw, between the old age dependency ratioin line with China’s national conditions and consumer indicators, found that thedomestic economic development areas in the elderly population dependency ratio andthe impact on residents’ propensity to consume is different; Finally, by studying theelderly population, raising the residents’ consumption structure of the impact ofpopulation aging on consumption structure heterogeneity. The empirical results show that population aging causes significant changes inconsumer factors. Heterogeneity is reflected at the national level, this effect betweencountries of different economic development there is a difference, aging significantlythe impact of consumer countries at different stage of industrialization and theexistence of threshold characteristics: a high degree of aging of the population ofdeveloped regions the level of consumption is high, the low degree of population aging in less developed regions, the level of consumption is low; heterogeneity isreflected in the domestic regional level, this effect of different levels of economicdevelopment between regions are different, economically developed areas positiveeconomically underdeveloped areas to the impact of the negative impact.Consumption structure heterogeneity, with the increase in the number of elderlypopulation, the general urban households for food, medical care and housingexpenditures among the most obvious increase, spending the most per capitatransportation, communications, consumer and education, culture and entertainmentservice consumption obvious. The conclusion of the above empirical research providetheoretical support for the policy-making departments and enact decisions at differentstages of economic development, and reach forward to guide the consumer level, optimizing the purpose of residents’ consumption structure.
