Factors Of Beijing Tongrentang Independent Innovation Capability And Drive Evolution

At present China is experiencing a great economic reform and transition, most ofthe enterprises are lack of the capability of independent innovation, which have beenthe significant obstacle to the sustainable development of enterprises. Thus, it’s ofgreat significance to investigate the evolutionary process and driving factors for thecapability of independent innovation. This will contribute to the understanding of thewhole development process of independent innovation capability and what factorspromote its development. This effort is very helpful for enterprises to improve theircapability of independent innovation.In this thesis, we take the century-old shop Beijing Tongrentang Group as theresearch object to study its individual development stages of independent innovationcapability. The evolutionary process and driving factors for the capability ofindependent innovation in each stage are analyzed by the method of grounded theory.The1st chapter of the thesis is the introduction, mainly introduced the researchbackground, significance, also the study contents and methods. In the introduction toresearch methods, we emphatically introduce the meaning and the analysis process ofgrounded theory. The2nd chapter of the thesis introduced the related basic theoriesand the literature review, summarized and reviewed the innovation theory, theindependent innovation theory, the capability of independent innovation theory, theresource theory and the institutional theory. The3rd chapter of the thesis is a casestudy, specifically adopting Grounded Theory to analyze each stage of BeijingTongrentang’s capability of independent innovation development. Chapter4is theresults of this research, which summarizes the evolution models of BeijingTongrentang’s capacity of independent innovation and analyzes its variousdevelopment stages and driving factors through the case analysis in the previouschapter. In the final chapter, we make comments and suggestions on the improvementof independent innovation capability for our enterprises, and point out the limitationsand deficiencies of this study, and moreover, raise the prospect for future research.
