Employees are important foundation of enterprises as well as a key factor in thedevelopment of enterprises. With increasing pressure on enterprise development, pressures of working and surviving on the staff soar likewise. This pressure is affectingthe health of employees, which in turn causes serious job burnout phenomenon. It is astate of mental and physical exhaustion of the staff under overwhelming work pressure, under which the employee’s productivity and creativity will be greatly affected, leadingto significant adverse impact on the enterprise.Through the study of positive psychology on optimistic explanatory style (OES), itis clearly revealed that OES plays a positive role in many aspects such as keepingemployees healthy, relieving their psychological stress and improving job performance. Itoffers new ideas and approaches to prevent and reduce staff burnout, promote businessdevelopment and achieve everlasting growth. It is of great importance and perspectiven-ess to combine OES and job burnout research together.Through probing into the conception and relativity of OES and job burnout theory, this thesis analyzes OES and burnout condition of employees of S Oil Corporation bymeans of empirical research, building linkages between OES and job burnout. The study finds that the overall optimism, dimensions of personification, permanency, universality and other three comprehensive dimensions of OES can beremarkably related to factors such as emotion exhaustion, depersonalization and lowpersonal accomplishment in job burnout theory, hence it has significant predictive effecton job burnout. Therefore, companies can predict burnout by measuring staff optimisticexplanatory style, consequently preventing and reducing staff burnout throughintervention.
