Bai Yanjing, ancient names, since the Han Dynasty the central plateau of Yunnan has been famous powerhouse of well salt production. Until the Qing Dynasty, and to promote the prosperity of the Bai Yanjing towns and cultural development of its Salt industry, once reached its peak, becoming one of the economic and cultural centers of the Qing Dynasty Yunnan region, was praised as "salt metropolis". In this paper, the paradigm case studies, theoretical approaches to the study of historical geography-based, introducing diverse perspectives, drawing on existing research, in three chapters examine Bai Yanjing’s salt industry and town culture, to explore internal and extension relationships between the development of borderland resource and the developing of regional social, economic and cultural of the Qing Dynasty.Chapter one:First, study the geographical environment and natural resources environmental conditions of Bai Yanjing regions. Secondly, Investigating, in vast space and time, the salt wells’geographical distribution, salt production, regional changes of transportation and sale, reasons causing these changes and the relationship between the salt production and sale and the local population change can reveal social and economic situation in Yunnan of Qing Dynasty. Then investigate salt production technology and local characteristics of Bai Yanjing. Finally, study the folk organization for salt production and official salt management system, which are gradually formed in the process of well salt production.Chapter two:First to have a discussion of the historical evolution of Bai Yanjing region and salt industry before the Qing Dynasty. And study the relationship between the regional social and economic development in Yunnan in the Qing Dynasty frontier and space-time evolution of salt exploitation of resources. And in the aforementioned context, to study the relationship between by resources development prompt massive amount of population and industries gathering in Bai Yanjing, which promotes the development of the town. Meanwhile, concerns a town in commercial trade and foreign relations issues. The last, based on the above discussion, investigate how the resource advantages into a powerful economic position advantages of Bai Yanjing to become the administrative center of the Yunnan region secondary economic lifeline center.Chapter Three:The first part of the town space for cultural, spatial morphology and layout Salt local records described as thorough and meticulous investigation. Second part first discusses some hosted elements with cultural and educational features of Bai Yanjing in Qing Dynasty such as the temple school, academy, well school, compulsory, and then exploring modern education is established and developed in the late Qing Dynasty. Furthermore, the relationship between official, folk charity and the local cultural education discussed. The third part, To have a deep probe into the belief in virgin, Brine Longwang and Tuzhu, who act as God and Eudemon, and into the belief culture of foreign Buddhism, Taoism and other exotic culture and its cultural landscapes. The fourth part, explore the interaction between the changes of the regional environment in the historical period and the well Salt industry, town and culture of Bai Yanjing.The availability of natural resources, to a considerable extent, determines the development mode and characteristics of Bai Yanjing in history. The prosperity of salt industry lays the foundation of the Town’s cultural extension, enriches its connotation, gives it the self-realization culture gene, and creates a kind of typical and regional salt culture. Salt determines the prevailing or failure of this kind of culture. After thousands of years of sedimentation, it shows the culture connotation and charm which is with obvious geographical, resource, industry characteristics.
