Research On The Development Of Chengdu Urban Agriculture

Urban agriculture is the outcome of the high social economic development level. It is a new agricultural form of integrating production living and ecological function. Recently, developed areas abroad and domestic cities has already had a big development of urban agriculture. As the capital of Sichuan province, Chengdu has the objective requirement, basic conditions and obvious advantages of the development of urban agriculture. It can not only provide high-quality agricultural products and beautiful ecological environment, but also play an important part in the agricultural technology demonstration and radiation. Urban agriculture has a certain strategic significance to achieve "world garden city".The paper analyses and summarizes the meaning, characteristic, function, type and other basic theory through reading lots of related literature at home and abroad, reviews and analyses the development of urban agriculture of some developed countries and the development of urban agriculture in some cities at home, provides the references for the development of chengdu urban agriculture.The paper analysis the background and conditions of Chengdu in development of urban agriculture with SWOT strategic analysis framework. Chengdu has the advantages of its economy, climate, location, science and technology, and the disadvantages of the cultivated land and water resource scarcity and economical problems. Meanwhile Chengdu faces the opportunity of the good policy environment, the agriculture transformation and rapid urban expansion, and the threats of the risk of agricultural production and the international market.The study analysis the present situation of Chengdu urban agriculture based on the investigation, including its developing course, structure, layout, industry type, industrialization and scale, etc, combining the development of urban agriculture in Zhanqi village. Then it puts forward the current problems, for example, lack of features, serious convergence phenomenon, low personnel quality, short chain and lack of government guidance, etc. At last, the study tries to put forward countermeasures for urban agriculture, for example, highlighting the advantage industries and local characteristics, improving the management and operation mechanism, improving the industrial concentration and the level of science, strengthening the government’s protection and support of urban agriculture, promoting the construction of ecological environment, realizing urban agriculture sustainable development.
