Since the reform and opening up, with the rapid economic growth, China’s urban and rural landscape change rapidly. However, construction in city is far faster than in rural areas because of the city biased development path, the gap between urban and rural areas has become the obstacle of the further development and draws more and more attention. The integration of urban and rural development is the fundamental way to solve the agriculture, rural areas and farmer problems. According to the law of economic and social development and the experience of developed countries, urban and rural integration will be the trend of our future relations between urban and rural areas, this paper attempts to prove this tendency by empirical analysis. Based on the existing research about the level evaluation of the integration, this paper constructs a evaluation index system which contains3levels,5aspects and36fundamental indicators, then uses the principal component analysis to measure China’s integration level of urban and rural development in2000-2012. The results show that in2000-2012, not only China’s integration level of urban and rural development, but also the integration level of space, economic, social, cultural and ecological environment are rising steadily, the gap between urban and rural areas is shrinking which conform to the economic and social development law. In2012, the integration level of different provinces is variant, level of municipalities (such as Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin) and eastern developed provinces (such as Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong) is high, western undeveloped provinces (such as Yunnan, Gansu, Xinjiang) is low. Meanwhile, the integration level of urban and rural development also has remarkable difference among different regions of China, the eastern area not only the integration level of urban and rural development, but also the aspect indicators level are way ahead of other regions. On the whole, The rapidly rise of the integration level of urban and rural development mainly due to the improvement of the social security system, the traffic communication and non-agricultural industries. In the mean time, insufficient investment and low consumption ability in rural areas are the limitation of the further integration of urban and rural development.
