With the rapid development of the global economic, the external environment facedby the organization is increasingly complex. How to participate in the internationaleconomic competition in a wider range, how to maintain a dominant position in theever-changing market, how to restructure and reform itself? Organizations need to think ofthose problems which can not be solved only by managers. More and more managers havebegun to pay attention to the employees’ initiative behavior, especially the voice behavior.Based on the role theory and Pygmalion effect, the paper further examines the mediatingeffect of voice role perception in the relationship between leader voice expectation and employeevoice behavior, as well as the moderating effects of role clarity and leader identification.Data were collected from210employee-colleague matched samples, the resultsindicate that:(1) Leader voice expectation is positively related to employee voice behavior;(2) Leader voice expectation is positively related to voice role perception;(3) Voice roleperception is positively related to employee voice behavior;(4) Voice role perceptionplayed as a full mediator in the relationship between leader voice expectation andemployee voice behavior;(5) Role clarity positively moderated the relationship betweenleader voice expectation and voice role perception;(6) Role clarity played as a mediatedmoderation;(7) Leader identification positively moderated the relationship between voicerole perception and employee voice behavior;(8) The mediation process was affected byleader identification, so voice role perception was a second-stage moderated mediation.Finally, we discussed the results which were found in our studies. And also we discussedthe shortage of our research and future research directions.
