Research On The Relationship Between Producer Services Innovative Development And Growth Of Manufacturing Efficiency

As a large manufacturing country，China’s economy is in a critical period oftransformation and upgrading on industrial structure. Since the reforming andopening，our country’s manufacturing industry has made a great progress，but on thewhole，it’s technology level，production level，and scientific research strength are stilllagged compared to developed countries and regions. The manufacturing industry isstill in the middle-to-low development level，and high-end manufacturing industrysuch as advanced manufacturing is relative lag. Theoretically，we know that theindustries’s development are not isolated，instead，they are interrelated. Looking at theexperiences on the domestic and foreign industries development，we can find that thedevelopment of manufacturing industry is inseparable from the support of producerservices industry，because the industry’s chain ends such as R&D，logistics，and brandmarketing are all belonged to producer services industry，which contain high-addedvalues. Therefore，the research on how producer services affet the development ofmanufacturing industry becomes meaningful.At the beginning，this paper introduces the concept and characteristics ofproducer services，analyses the historic change between producer services industryand manufacturing industry，including the stage when producer services embedded inthe manufacturing，and the stage when the producer services industry separated frommanufacturing industry. Then analyses the theory on how producer services industrymakes use of its technical innovation，organization innovation and system innovationto promote the growth of efficiency on manufacturing industry. Then we analysis thepresent situations of china’s producer services industry and manufacturing industrybriefly. In the part of empirical analysis, this article chooses9relevant provinces andcities as the research objects in the east area of our country，where producer servicesindustry and manufacturing industry are relatively developed. Then we select thelabor productivity of manufacturing industry as the explained variable，and in thesame time select explanatory variables that can represent the producer services’stechnological innovation capability，organization innovation capability and systeminnovation capability，and also add the market index as control variable. By using2005-2010relevant datas，this article establish a panel data model to verify whetherthe producer services industry’s three aspects of innovations have positive effection onthe growth of manufacturing efficiency. The empirical results show that，the producer services industry’s technology innovation， organization innovation and systeminnovation do enhance manufacturing’s efficiency， in which technologicalinnovation’s effection is relatively biggest，and system innovation makes a relativelysmall role. This paper also finds that the degree of the opening in market is helpful torealize the development of manufacturing industry.Based on the analyses above，this paper finally puts forward some policyrecommendations on how to use of producer services industry’s innovations toimprove the development of manufacturing industry.
