Manufacturing industry is the backbone of the real economy,and the development of China’s manufacturing industry has undergone tremendous changes in the past few decades.At present,China has a complete industrial sector in the world,but we also recognize that the fundamental development of the manufacturing industry is innovation.Although China’s manufacturing industry ranks among the top in the world in terms of output and scale,many of the core and key technologies in many industries are monopolized and blocked by foreign technologies,and no fundamental breakthroughs have been achieved.In the process of moving from a manufacturing power to a manufacturing power,we need to make innovation the first driving force for enterprise development,and improving the innovation efficiency of the manufacturing industry becomes an important task for China’s current manufacturing industry development.As an intermediate input in the manufacturing industry,producer services are characterized by knowledge and technology intensity,and are the "booster" for the innovative development of the manufacturing industry,Clustering of productive services can promote manufacturing innovation through leveraging knowledge spillovers and economies of scale.In this context,this paper studies the impact of producer services agglomeration on manufacturing innovation efficiency,which can enrich relevant theoretical research on the impact of producer services agglomeration on manufacturing innovation efficiency,and has very important practical significance in influencing manufacturing innovation through the development of producer services.On the basis of literature combing,this paper first systematically elaborates the theory of agglomeration and the theory of technological innovation,which provides theoretical support for this paper to study the impact of productive service industry agglomeration on the innovation efficiency of manufacturing industry,and secondly,divides productive service industry agglomeration into specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration,and elaborates the mechanism of productive service industry agglomeration affecting manufacturing innovation efficiency.On this basis,this paper selects the panel data of 30 provinces(excluding Tibet)in China from 2008 to 2020,and first uses the stochastic frontier analysis method(SFA)to measure the innovation efficiency of China’s manufacturing industry,and the measurement results show that the innovation efficiency of manufacturing industry in different regions varies greatly and shows an obvious "east,middle and west" trend from high to low.Second,empirical research is carried out by constructing a fixed-effect model.It is found that:(1)on the whole,the specialized agglomeration and diversified agglomeration of China’s productive service industry can promote the efficiency of manufacturing innovation;(2)From the perspective of different industries,the specialization agglomeration of low-end productive service industries and the diversified agglomeration of high-end productive service industries can significantly promote the improvement of manufacturing innovation efficiency(3)From the perspective of different regions,specialization and diversified agglomeration of productive service industries can promote the improvement of manufacturing innovation efficiency in the eastern,central and western regions(4)From the perspective of sub-regions and industries,the specialization and diversified agglomeration of low-end and high-end productive service industries in the eastern region can significantly promote the efficiency of manufacturing innovation.The specialization and diversified agglomeration of high-end productive service industries in the central region have a significant positive impact on the innovation efficiency of the manufacturing industry,while the specialization agglomeration of low-end productive service industries and the diversified agglomeration of high-end productive service industries in the western region can significantly promote the improvement of manufacturing innovation efficiency,which is consistent with the national results.Finally,based on the research conclusions,this paper puts forward relevant policy suggestions,hoping to provide some useful references for coordinating the rational allocation of technological innovation resources in China’s manufacturing industry and promoting the improvement of technological innovation efficiency in China’s manufacturing industry.
