Hefei is the politics, economy, education, finance, science, technology and transportation center of Anhui Province, key of Wanjiang City Belt, center of the Yangtze River Delta, is one of the most influential city in East China region, but it’s urban and rural income imbalance in development still exist between the economic and social development,and it has a trend of gradually expanding.According to the Hefei Bureau of statistics data show:In1985, Hefei urban-rural income difference value is336yuan, but by2012, this figure has reached16353yuan. After eliminating the influence of CPI(with1985as the base), this value has reached5543yuan, is16times of1985. Therefore, reduce the urban-rural income gap is related to the stability and sustainable development. Consequently, research process of economic and social development of Hefei is necessary.This paper summarizes the current research in the field of income gap between urban and rural areas, including literature review, the basic concept and the basic theory. Some main research direction, research object and research methods of income gap between urban and rural is being card:Firstly, This paper analysis the income situation in Hefei urban residents and rural residents, and combined with two kinds of present situation analysis the historical process of the urban-rural income gap, and obtained the following conclusions:1. The wage income and family income is still the main source of urban and rural income disparity.2. The proportion of property income and transfer income in the whole income is growing, and the impact of transfer income on the income of rural residents is growing.Secondly, the beased on statistics bureau of Anhui province and Hefei, using multiple regression analysis, time series analysis, co-integration analysis and principal component analysis method, research and analysis of the relationship between the development of Hefei economy and the income gap between urban and rural areas.The main factors affecting the income gap between urban and rural and Hefei is given:1.Totally, the economy development of Hefei is narrow the urban-rural income gap.2.
